Moving to Sweden

Brad and his family made two trips to the airport. On Thursday arrangements to fly their furry friends (Co Co and Daisy) from Chicago to Stockholm were made incorrectly. Even tho every effort had been made to make sure every question that might be asked at Customs could be answered; alas the airplane was not equipped to carry live animals. So that flight was scrapped and another flight was scheduled for the following Saturday (two days later).

They arrived at the airport two hours before the flight was scheduled to leave (10:00 am Saturday morning) and every minute was needed to clear up the confusion of the tickets. Brad had two tickets for the flights, but their little girl had none. Finally everything was taken care of. The baggage was checked, the cats were settled in, and with tickets in hand they proceeded to the security area of the airport.

McGee Tyson Airport just before the secure area.

Cousins wanted to see Olivia off on her world travels.

Patiently waiting for everything to be checked in.

Brad's family arrived in Stockholm at 1:30 am, Sunday morning, Knoxville time. It took two hours to clear up Customs for the cats, get all of their baggage, and hail a cab. They took Co Co and Daisy to the house, then went to the hotel before being able to pass out on the hard Swedish mattresses for a little rest.

The following is an excerpt from an email Brad sent on Monday:

Delia has been a real trooper.  She got up early this morning and got breakfast then went out to the house by herself via cab to check on the cats and put out some more food she bought today at the grocery store across the street from the hotel.  She couldn't find Coco.  Spent a lot of time looking for her on each floor but just couldn't find her.  Thought maybe she had gotten out and frozen overnight.

Finally did find her though.  Somehow she had crawled up underneath a sink and wedged herself through a small gap into the drawer.  When Delia found her she was stretching and yawning like "what's all the excitement".

Delia has been bringing our meals to the room.  We were told at first that there was no room service at the Alvik.  I challenged it later - as well as I could - tough to talk with strep throat.  Come to find out they do have room service - only at certain times though.  I could strangle the desk clerk who gave bad information the first time.  Really bummed us out at first.

Our room is ok.  Not great but ok.  Bed is hard - as most Swedish beds are, so my back is a mess.

Anyway, hope you are doing well.   Need to go now and "sleep" some more.

Love,
Brad

Will close this session for now. Come back soon for more news.
